Pastor Morton Francois, Senior Pastor
Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on November 3, 1952, Pastor Morton has been a servant of God since April 25,1970, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He first went to school to study Civil Engineering and earned his degree at L’Institut Superieur Technique D’Haiti. However, witnessing his mother’s dedication and service to God, Pastor Morton decided to follow God as well. He studied and received a degree in Theology at the Seminare Theologique de Bollos Haiti and L’Institut Biblique Evangelique de New York. He has been married to his beautiful wife, Maude Francois for 37 years and has 3 children and 2 grand-children. At home, you could often find him watching sports, particularly basketball, meditating his Bible, or reading a book. He is the Senior Pastor of the Haitian Community Baptist Church in Bronx, NY and serves as the Associate Pastor at the French Speaking Baptist Church in Spring Valley, NY. Pastor Morton is widely known for his effective ways of teaching and humorous illustrations. He is a dynamic pre-marital and marriage counselor and has led many couples’ seminars.Pastor Morton is the recipient of many awards, including the Certificate of Achievement for Services rendered to Rockland County given by the County Legislator. Nonetheless, for Pastor Morton, the highlight of serving God is hearing testimonies of how God used him to positively influence the life of others.
Pastor Guy Desir, Assistant Pastor
Pastor Guy Désir was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on February 9th, 1961. His parents are from Léogoâne, a small town in Haiti. Although illiterate, his parents had instilled in him the great value of education and the need to serve the Lord at an early age. Being influenced by the miraculous conversion of his parents to Christ, he also, decided to dedicate his life to Christ on September 1979. Right after his conversion to Christianity, he expressed his interest to learn and teach the word of God. After graduating from high school, he studied theology for three years at the Séminaire Théologique d”Haïti (Seminary of Theology of Haiti). He pursued his bible courses at “L’École Évangélique de la bible Maranatha” (Enagelical Bible School of Port-au-Prince: Maranatha) Later in 1990, brother Guy graduated from the “Institut des Hautes Études Commerciales et Économiques” (IHECE) with a major in Economics and from Ecole Normale Superieure (ENS): Teacher’s College He spent several years teaching history in private and public schools in Haiti and later became principal of the “Lycée Benoit Batraville ”, a public school in the town of Laboule, Petion ville. His passion to know and serve the Lord better, pushed him to be a dedicated bible teacher. Therefore, he taught theoogy at the “Institut Biblique Evangélique de New York” for more than 15 years. His passion to serve the Lord continue through his responsibility as the head of the department of Christian education at the Haitian Community Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon. He currently serves as an Assistant Pastor and a board member of the church Committee. Pastor Guy Désir also offers his services to other churches in the Haitian community in Brooklyn, New York. Reverend Désir is married to Guerda Désir and has two daughters: Gusthy and Gabriella. His hobbies are soccer and reading (History, Theology, Literature and Philosophy). According to him, the man of God must be well equipped in order to face the challenges in the Christian ministry in the twenty-first century.
Pastor Claude Dorlus, Assistant Pastor
Claude Dorlus was born in Port-au-Prince on April 24, 1966. He received his degree in Electronic Engineering from the Institute of Biblical United Hart and later studied theology at the Salk Lake Bible Institute and the Institute Biblical Evangelical. Pastor Claude has been in ministry since 1986 and has served as a Deacon and now an Associate Pastor at the Haitian Community Baptist Church. The best advice he has ever received about preaching is “Stay in the word of God and keep it simple”. A fun fact is that his favorite book to read is the Bible, because the Bible is his source of strength.
